ESPN’s Outside The Lines chronicles the late Louis Mulkey. Mulkey, a former high school basketball coach and firefighter, died along with eight other men in a Charleston, SC furniture store fire on June 18, 2007.
Those brave heroes are posthumously known as the Charleston Nine.
This heart-wrenching tale describes Mulkey’s influences on his widowed wife, former colleagues and his players’ run to the State Championship. Aired 6-1-2008.

God Bless Lauren- This story has made me believe again in true miracles. Louis like every MAN who puts their life on the line to save us are hero’s. I’m sure he is right beside the 9-11 bunch! And as for the game, even if the shot got off in time for Spartanburg, he no doubt traveled. Much Luv, Mikey in Jersey……. 7 in HEAVEN

4It doesn’t matter what kind of mood you are in when you begin to watch this. You can’t help but feel happy for that team, that town and that high school. It’s good to see a team that really deserved to win it all actually pull it off
R.I.P. Louis Mulkey

22I agree. Nice story but Spartanburg kids have stories to tell always. They were robbed. Summerville lost the game.
